Daniel Callaghan
Supervisory Special Agent
Daniel Callaghan is a Supervisory Special Agent with 23 years of law enforcement experience and 15 years within the Department of Homeland Security. He is currently assigned to Homeland Security Investigations Financial Crimes Unit as a Section Chief in Washington DC. SC Callaghan oversees the Cryptocurrency Investigations Program, Cornerstone Outreach Program, Money Service Bureau Liaison, ACAMS Liaison, and Organized Retail Crime for HSI. Prior to beginning his Headquarters tour, SC Callaghan was assigned as a Group Supervisor in the HSI New York Field Office where he supervised narcotics investigations and financial fraud investigations. SC Callaghan also served as a Program Manager for HSI New York’s National Security Division.
In those duties, SC Callaghan worked closely with divisional leadership on all NSD priorities for HSI New York and worked directly with the Special Agent in Charge on internal policies and day to day operations of HSI New York. Prior to his promotion SC Callaghan was a special agent assigned to narcotics in HSI New York working complex international narcotics investigations, RICO investigations, and Title III investigations. SC Callaghan began his career in 2001 as a New York City Police Officer working as a patrol officer, plain clothes officer, and investigator. SC Callaghan is a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
